The Team
Words from Lime Founder - Mark Pitcher
"I have worked in the construction industry for nearly 40 years, the majority of this working for private clients on the redevelopment of their homes. The way procurement is undertaken in the sector is fundamentally flawed, with a total lack of integration of teams that leads to significant waste in time and cost and offers poor customer service.
Lime is about changing the way we do things, about bringing everyone together at the start from designers and architects, estimators, through to site tradesmen to use their accumulated knowledge and experience to provide our customers with the best possible outcome.
Lime provides one point of contact for the whole journey of your project from start to finish, taking our team on the full journey with you; to ensure we deliver your project on time, on budget and to a quality and finish that exceeds your expectations.
Lime is about providing certainly of costs, quality, and time, changing the way we look at risk by reducing and managing that risk in an open and transparent way."
Lime Director of Architecture - Jim
"During the more than 20 years I have worked in architecture practices, time and time again I have been witness to clients’ frustrations and disappointments relating to construction costs coming in above budget expectations. In fact, this has happened on every single project I have worked on - projects with construction values up to £5 million. It’s clear that the client’s interests are not being served by the traditional way of doing things and that something must change.
Working alongside a team of construction specialists who can provide a more accurate projection of costs as the project progresses, based on their insights for how the design will be built, is a no-brainer. It not only enables me to go through the design process knowing what the order of costs are for the client and ensuring that we are always working within budget – providing them with the certainty they need to make decisions – also this provides a clearly defined constraint against which to develop design, fundamental to ensuring the final design is realisable. There is no joy as an architect in designing something that can’t/won’t be built due to cost. Having that input before I start to detail improves the efficiency of design development, saving me time and the client cost… This is an elemental approach that is inarguably superior to the way I have worked throughout my career. The benefits are fundamentally to the client, but there are benefits for me – allowing me to become a much more precise and efficient architect, working with the construction specialists, rather than second guessing what they need from me.
The Lime approach makes perfect sense, and I believe the industry will soon be having to adopt this way of doing things – as the benefits in efficiency and productivity are enhanced by orders of magnitude. The ‘way we’ve always done it’ is outdated, inefficient and actively harmful. So, let’s do things in a new way, a better way… the Lime way; redefining architecture and construction."
